Lazy Mom Goes To Kitchen

Assalamu'alaikum. So, by right it's officially Sunday now that the time has passed midnight. And here I am writing about luncheon that occurred much, much earlier on.

Junior has been requesting for clear tomyam soup for quite some time but I haven't got the time to search for a decent recipe online and take a shot or two. Oh, well.. Just another lame excuse of a lazy mom, what's new? Anyways, Bibik had already taken out of the freezer some prawns and chicken when she asked me what to cook around 10.30am. Right there and then I knew I would have to bring some clear tomyam soup on the table, no excuse anymore!

The chicken I decided to try a recipe in my recent steal from Wangsa Walk's Popular Bookstore, which I let Bibik handle. But when she didn't seem to get hold of the actual feeds to the eyes to begin with, I had to eventually take over and add some soy sauce.

The Chicken Kung Pao turned out okay, Alhamdulillah. Should have been much better looking and delicious, but not bad for Bibik's first try, don't you think?

Junior was so pleased to get what he's been craving for from his lazy mom. It was so good to see him eat with big smile on his face, during lunch and dinner. Bibik couldn't believe her eyes because she never knew that Junior actually liked tomyam. She still seemed not to get the major difference between normal and clear tomyam soup. Never mind, Junior would prefer his mom to cook actually.

It would have tasted much more authentic if I had added fish sauce and used young galangals (which I had neither) like they do in Thailand, but then again, it's the thought that counts!

That's it, folks. I'll leave you with a short video of the infamous clear tomyam soup. Have a nice weekend ahead!
